England v Pakistan 3rd Test Day 4 Post Match Presentation

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010
Highlights Live streaming Live Commentry Scorecard Summary

Pakistan won by 4 wickets

Aamer is the Man of the Match: Everyone feels some pressure in that position, but I held my nerves. I am working hard on my batting. I got some advice from Waqar and it paid rich dividends when I bowled that spell yesterday as the ball was reversing a bit. I also had lots of support from Ajmal, Asif and Riaz. Wasim Akram is my idol and I respect him a lot.

Strauss: I am very pleased with the way we fought, but the wicket was bit dry today, we didn’t bat well in the second innings, all credit to the Pakistan team. We need to come back soon from this defeat. Pakistani bowlers bowled well, they got the ball to reverse and Ajaml too got some spin and bounce. I am very happy with the way Cook batted.

Butt: This match reminded me of the match against Australia where we lost, The boys showed a lot of character, Ali played well, it was a tremendous comeback from Yousuf and all the players contributed to this win. We have a take a call on Gul’s fitness, but Riaz also played well in his place. We dedicate this victory to the people of Pakistan who were affected in the floods.

Pitch and conditions
Pakistan chose to bowl first at the SCG last month and were rolled for 127 in their chase as the bowlers took advantage of seaming conditions. It has been another wet lead-up and there are storms predicted for Friday afternoon, along with a maximum of 31C. If that happens the bowlers will be happy again.
